Power Prospecting

By Sarah Robbins

A leader is coachable, hungry, and not willing to give up. I made a shift to “power prospecting” and experienced enormous success in my network marketing business. Prospecting is like looking for gold and it just takes a few people to lead you to that gold. Anyone I am prospecting with is either going to be 1 of 3 “C’s”: a Customer, a Consultant (iRep), or a Connector. You want to be sure that you always ask for referrals. It is also important to reward referrals with incentives such as free products or gift cards that you develop, outside of the company promotions.
This will be very powerful for you because of the people who will tell you “no”, most will be open to referring someone or perhaps many people to you, and with an incentive even more so. Some of my top leaders were referrals from people who never joined the business. This business is a numbers game. If you compare it to pouring coffee, you just need to keep sharing your product and opportunity with everyone, keep the coffee pouring always, and eventually you will get a yes.

Here is an ice-breaker I use:
“I know you are well-networked in the ________ area and I’m launching a business there. I’d like to meet you for coffee and wondering if you have any referrals you could help connect me with.”

I also have what I call a “chicken list challenge.” If you have anyone on your list that you have been too chicken to call, just set a date for it on your calendar and just do it yourself otherwise someone else will!

Finally, my simple formula for proven success in our industry? Make 5 new contacts a day without fail.
