Here are some helpful hints
from Tom “Big Al” Schreiter.
One of the main things to
remember when building rapport with a prospect is that most people like those
who think like them, look like them and talk like them. Establishing common
ground in a conversation helps establish trust. Try looking for one fact that
both you and the prospect agree upon. It could be the weather, the economy,
travel, vacations, commuting is miserable, aging is no fun, etc. Some phrases
to start the conversation in 4 words: “Are you ok with...” and “Well you know
how...” Let’s practice: “Are you ok with this economy?” or “Well you know how
getting old is no fun?” Try it out and see how easy you can connect with your
prospect!
