“The Importance and Five Purposes of Major Events” By Randy Gage

So talk about perfect timing. I just got an email from one of the guys that dropped out of my business after two months.  Why did he quit?

He said he didn’t have money to buy the product even. Now of course he has what most people would consider a real job and earns decent money by conventional standards.  It wasn’t that he didn’t have money.  It was that it wasn’t a priority to him.

If you asked me the real reason he dropped out, I would say it’s because he never attended a major function.

And we had one his second month in the business. But no matter how hard I pushed, he cried poor and wouldn’t go.  And if I’ve learned anything, it is this:

People that don’t attend functions are at serious risk to drop out. It’s just too easy to quit.  They desperately need the major events to develop skills, build dreams, create confidence, develop goals, meet successful people, and create game plans. Not to mention another fifty reasons I don’t have time to list now.  But anyway he cried poor about paying for a $100 event.

So back to the email…
He was sending it from the Dominican Republic, where he went for a circuit party. Two weeks ago.

Like a lot of people he’ll have a week or two of fun once a year, then scrimp for the other fifty. Don’t get me wrong I hope he has a wonderful time. But it’s too bad that when he gets back tomorrow he’ll have to scrimp for the next year.

To have success in our business you have to attend the major events.  And you have to create a culture where your team attends them. Everyone has a story why they can’t attend. But you can’t buy their stories.Or make up one of your own.

So, are you registered for your team’s next major event?

We talk a lot about the importance of major events and why you must attend them.  Yet sometimes people still think they’re graduated to the point they don’t need them.  Big mistake…

They look at the investment involved and try to justify why they don’t need to go. They say they’ll just skip this one because money is tight, or say they were at other ones so they know what’s going to be taught. This is foolish thinking and may prevent more people from reaching success than anything else.

There are five reasons we conduct major events. And everyone – and I do mean everyone – is always in need of one of those five things.

They are:
1)    Gain knowledge
2)    Improve attitude
3)    Change behavior
4)    Develop skills
5)    Build belief

Every time there is a major event coming up, one of those five things is the most important outcome for you. So think about when your next major event is. Get registered.

Which of those five outcomes is the priority for you?
