The 4 Landmines of Success by Darren Hardy

Darren Hardy’s keynote address at our Regional last week in West Palm Beach, FL was as much a business opportunity meeting as it was an enlightening and motivating validation for everyone who chooses to be part of the direct selling industry. For those who have not yet experienced the power of our industry, the time is now!

Darren outlined his four landmines of success and we have summarized them as follows:

  1. It’s Too Easy
Since 90% of all millionaires started out broke and 100% started out scared, the hardest part is finding a proven opportunity (which we have with Jusuru International). However, our opportunity is very inexpensive ($39.95) when compared with the overall value and potential it offers. Since less than $40 is hardly any “skin in the game”, Darren suggests that our iReps not treat this as a $40 opportunity and consider it as if you were opening a traditional business and invested hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. Since our business is easy to get in, it’s also easy to get out. He further mentioned that 90% of all new businesses fail and that our attitude, including the way we approach our commitment to the business, should equal the opportunity, not the cost.

  1. You Have No Boss
Darren made a very clear point to everyone in attendance that if you were your own boss, you would fire you! This is because without a boss, you have no structure, no set expectations about performance and time-management, nor any accountability to yourself. He stressed focusing on the following 6 key functions that lead to productivity and the growth of your business:
1.     Using the products
2.     Sharing your product experiences
3.     Sharing the opportunity
4.     Helping others get started
5.     Building for events
6.     Building yourself (personal development)
He suggests tracking yourself in each of the above areas on a regular bases and that if whatever activity you are doing does not fall into one of the above categories, cease doing it.

  1. You’re Selling The Wrong Product
Mr. Hardy shocked our iReps with his statement, “You’re selling the wrong product…Liquid BioCell is the WRONG product!” By that he clarified, “The product you are selling is YOU!” His point is that people are most likely judging you and how effective you are at attracting others to the business and product and that by increasing yourself, your skills and your abilities, your income and results will match your self-identify. He stressed that an “attitude makeover” was in order for everyone since the main core personality traits for successful people are attitudes more than knowledge or skill. He admonished, “What controls your attention controls your life.” He further added, “Your attitude affects your results.” His recommendation is for everyone to invest in themselves and that it will be the highest return on your investment, citing Brian Tracy and a 3,000% return. 1. Conquering the F-Word
While Darren shared three “F-words” with the Regional crowd that need to be conquered, perhaps the most important standout was “fear”. Fear isn’t real. It’s imagined. The fear of a task lies in the anticipation. By shifting your focus from the outcome to the task, and by taking 20 seconds at least three times a day to do the thing you fear (ie: prospecting calls, public speaking, skydiving, etc.) you can overcome your fear of anything.
