Ingredient of the Week—BioCell Technology: BioCell Collagen®

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. They say it comes from within—that it's lazy with naturalness, glamorized with colors
and tints and shades, holistic and inclusive, and defined by curves and accents. Beauty is truly subjective. It works from all angles; and in the same way, the industry works from all angles to support beauty, i.e., beauty from within and topical applications.

Thinking holistically … BioCell Technology's collagen ingredients—BioCell Collagen II ®CG-WS and BioCell Collagen II—are two different grades of the company's complex of hydrolyzed collagen peptides and aggrecan for topical and ingestible applications, respectively. These are not combinations of active ingredients, but rather a naturally occurring matrix containing glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) such as chondroitin sulfate (CS) and hyaluronic acid (HA), both essential structural components in the skin dermis. These components are responsible for the skin's moisture, suppleness, elasticity and (here's that word again) beauty.

BioCell Collagen II has studies proving its bioavailability (it's hydrolyzed, which equals smaller molecules, allowing for better absorption) and its ability to increase HA; but last year the company completed its first human skin study on women. The ladies underwent natural and UV-intensified aging processes and after 12 weeks of supplementation, BioCell Collagen improved facial skin health in several key metrics, including skin hydration and collagen content, and significantly reduced wrinkles and fine lines.

Now that's beautiful.
